 This position is responsible for providing comprehensive medical, preventive and therapeutic health care services for the Stillaguamish Tribal Community. The position is for a Family Nurse Practitioner who delivers primary care in a clinic-centered approach with home visits and community outreach. The FNP must be self-directed in providing this health care service and needs to function independently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages the overall medical needs of Assesses health status and health practices of

individuals and families through health histories, observation, and physical examinations.

  • Identifies health needs; develops and implements health care treatment plans with periodic

follow-up.

  • Prescribes specific drugs and treatment for common health
  • Orders and performs laboratory tests/diagnostic procedures and interprets
  • Establishes and maintains patient medical records and charts, ensuring compliance with Indian

Health Service directives; HIPAA compliance expected.

  • Establishes and maintains a network of collaborative relationships with private physicians, IHS, and health service providers.
  • Provides referrals to local providers when services are not available at the clinic.
  • Duties would include scheduling the workload, assuring the adequacy of supplies, maintaining clinic procedures, coordinating medical services, planning and evaluating clinic services and implementing necessary care.
  • Provides home visits as needed.
  • Implements community wellness programs and functions as nurse consultant for tribal programs.
  • Must be able to travel independently within various locations of the tribal community.

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of professional medical theory and
  • Ability to apply medical techniques to patient care in field and clinic
  • Ability to maintain harmonious working relationships with other
  • Ability to maintain complete casework
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with clients, health resources staff, IHS,
  • Culture: Must have cultural sensitivity and be able to incorporate Native American community

values in the health care process.

 

 Position Qualifications

  • Current license as a Registered Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority in WA State
  • ANA Board Certification as FNP
  • WA state Driver License and ability to be approved by Tribal insurance to drive Tribal vehicles.
  • Ability to pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen
