Provide Case Management services to clients to assist the client and the client's family in the access and coordination of needed medical, psychiatric, and behavioral health services; Provide educational, vocational, social support, and community-based services; Provide assessments; and post-discharge follow-up activities. Develop, manage, coordinate, and direct the efficient and timely performance of all billing activities and Institute and monitor compliance with all state and federal standards for Medicaid billing.
 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive intake assessments to collect functional, environmental, psychosocial, financial, employment, housing, educational, and health information, to include HIV assessment, as appropriate to develop a creative and cost effective case plan.

Evaluate client's progress toward desired outcomes, including achievement of clinical goals and satisfaction with services.

Provide client education needed to attain compliance with treatment.

Provide supportive counseling and advocacy for clients.

Work collaboratively with patient, physician, family/significant others and providers of health care to implement a plan of care which meets the individual's needs.

Promote active and knowledgeable participation by the client and family in the medical/behavioral health care process.

Transcribe information and forward for Medicaid authorizations and payment.

Perform accurate and timely quality assessment of case files for Medicaid, Insurance and self-pay cases.

Assist in the development of new techniques and methods to improve efficiency and efficacy of operations.

Adhere to NSB Health, state and federal confidentiality policies, as well as all of the other policies and procedures.

Promote the optimal allocation of health dollars through effective and efficient use of resources.

Travel to North Slope Villages as required.

Perform work duties in a timely manner.

Participate in special projects and meet deadlines as assigned.

In the event of an emergency, follow responsibilities as outlined in the NSB, Health Department policies and procedures and CEMP manual and as directed by assigned emergency personnel.

Protect self, co-workers and consumers by following policies and procedures to prevent the spread of blood borne and/or airborne diseases.

Successfully complete and maintain training requirements of assigned program, including continuous upgrades of personal and professional qualifications related to position or licensure.

Perform other duties as assigned.
 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of North Slope Borough organization, operations, policies and procedures.

Knowledge of file and records management principles.

Skill in using personal computers and a variety of software applications.
 Education, Experience, Certifications and Licenses Required:
Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health discipline and two years of counseling experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; experience must include behavioral health assessments, case management and third party billing requirements.

Two years PC experience using common software application and electronic health record programs.

Applicant must be 21 years of age or older; one year separation from receiving services for substance abuse or domestic violence.

Pass a criminal history background check conducted by the State of Alaska Background Unit.

Documentation the applicant is free from active pulmonary tuberculosis.

Ability to obtain Alaska driver's license that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria within 30 days.
