Summary Under general supervision enforces laws, maintains order, prevents crime, makes arrests, and does related duties in accordance with the mission, goals, and objectives of the office in compliance with governing tribal, federal, state, and local laws. Duties & Responsibilities: - Maintains regular patrol in assigned residential and business areas, investigates suspicious conditions and/or activity, and responds to calls for assistance on foot or in assigned vehicle.
- Checks Nation properties for safety, security, or any other incidents that may occur, i.e., crimes in progress, fires, alarms, and other disturbances.
- Conducts preliminary investigations of attempted or committed crimes.
- Pursues and follows leads for assigned cases, gathers information and intelligence, and records all contacts for future reference regarding crime prevention.
- Makes proper, legal and thorough searches when required to do so, i.e. officer safety, arrested individuals, warrants, property, vehicles, etc.
- Responds to motor vehicle accidents, inspects vehicles involved and conducts investigations to determine the causes of the accidents, and completes required paperwork.
- Renders first aid to any injured individual and administers Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) when necessary.
- Issues summons for traffic violations and other offenses where suspect may be cited and released.
- Completes all necessary reports and supporting arrest, administrative and department mandated paperwork.
- Assists specialized units with traffic control, crowd control, hazardous materials spills, and search and rescue.
- Transports prisoners to and from detention facilities.
- Makes necessary recommendations to Nation enterprises, persons, and residents regarding safety and security.
- Uses skillful verbal communications when dealing with guests, supervisors, and fellow employees.
- Regularly inspects assigned vehicle for required equipment, i.e., first aid kit, fire extinguisher, traffic flares, mobile radio, emergency lighting, etc. Performs minor vehicle maintenance as required.
- Performs other duties as required.
