Position Summary:

This position is funded thru the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board as part of the WEAVE project. The intention of the funding is to bring more opportunities for health and wellness specifically thru healthy and traditional foods for our community. This grant runs from April 2018 to September 30, 2018. This is an on call position as activities are coordinated. We would like community members who are interested in sharing how to gather traditional foods as well as prepare them. We would take field trips out to gather. Anyone interested please apply and notify us as to which foods you could teach about.

Must have knowledge in regards to traditional foods
Working with the community members to educate and share in regards to gathering, processing and preserving traditional foods.
To be able to work with youth and the elders in regards to traditional foods.
Responsible to track number of participants
Must have some experience with gardening
Per the Tribal policy manual must pass criminal background check and UAIndian Preference:
Indian preference will be given to candidates showing proof of enrollment in a federally recognized tribe. In the absence of Indian applicants meeting the qualification as listed above, all applicants not entitled to or who fail to claim Indian preference, will receive consideration without regard to race, color, sex, political preferences, age, religion, or national origin.
