The staff strides through multiple programs in the department to preserve the rich culture and history that is so important to the people of the Penobscot Nation. There are ongoing efforts to revitalize the Penobscot language through classes and by making use of new technology. Tribal history is researched and shared through projects such as the Map of Penobscot Names. Archaeological artifacts are actively being retrieved and protected, while working with educators about the Wabanaki culture. Steps are being made to retain the intellectual property rights for future generations.
